Longer but deeply personal
With Election Day just 2 days away, I wanted to take a second to write a longer but deeply personal Substack post. If you don’t have time to read the full thing, I hope you’ll rush a donation right away. >>
I’m a pediatrician. I’ve spent my career sitting across from exhausted parents, treating sick kids, and doing everything in my power to help families navigate some of the scariest moments of their lives. That work has never felt political to me — it’s felt like a calling.
But then I watched as the leaders who are supposed to represent us — who are supposed to fight for South Carolina families — have made decision after decision that puts politics above people.
I’ve seen preventable diseases make a comeback because misinformation was allowed to spread unchecked. I’ve had conversations with parents who can’t afford their kids’ medications, can’t keep up with rising grocery bills, and are quietly terrified about what the future holds.
That’s why I decided to run for Senate.
But here’s what I know from medicine: Hope without action doesn’t save anyone. You have to actually show up. You have to do the work.
Thanks to you, we’ve been able to do the work building a campaign that can win and defeat Darline Graham in just 2 days.
Thank you so much,
Annie Andrews
